Mexican university students engage in entrepreneurship and charity
Students at various Mexican universities are engaging in diverse forms of community involvement and entrepreneurship. At the Centro Universitario de Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades (CUCSH), students have established a vibrant informal marketplace during class breaks. These micro-businesses, which include food sales, barber services, and the sale of used books or collectibles, are driven by the need to fund academic expenses, materials, and personal living costs.
In Ciudad Juárez, the student body at the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ) has demonstrated significant philanthropic support for the Mexican Red Cross. Through voluntary contributions made during the enrollment process, students have raised a total of 435,578 pesos for the local Red Cross delegation. This ongoing tradition, which has continued since 2019, saw 219,936 pesos donated during the January-June semester and 215,642 pesos during the current cycle.
