Mexican wrestler Emperador Azteca suffers severe shoulder injury and undergoes surgery

Emperador Azteca, a masked luchador, was injured on 1 August 2026 during a match at Arena López Mateos in Tlalnepantla, State of Mexico. While attempting a high‑impact move on Dr. Karonte Jr., his left shoulder dislocated, causing him to collapse on the mat and scream in pain. Event staff and medical personnel stopped the bout, immobilised his arm and removed him on a stretcher to a nearby hospital.

The incident was captured on video and spread on social media. Hours later, Emperador Azteca confirmed via his own accounts that he had undergone shoulder surgery and thanked supporters for their encouragement during his recovery.
