Mexico: 2027 state elections scheduled for June 6
Several Mexican states, including Guerrero, Nayarit, and Colima, are preparing for the 2027 electoral process. The elections for governorships, local congresses, and municipal governments are scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 6, 2027, coinciding with the federal midterm elections.
In Guerrero, the local electoral process is already underway following a declaration by the IEPC in September 2026. In Colima, the IEE formally initiated the process in mid-October 2026. Nayarit's local process is slated to begin formally on January 7, 2027, according to the IEEN calendar.
While the federal election process managed by the INE began in September 2026, official candidates for these state positions have not yet been registered, as parties follow their respective internal schedules for precampaigns and registration.
