Mexico Advances Campaign to Eradicate Cattle Worm Pest and Ensure Food Safety

Mexico's Ministry of Agriculture, together with the National Agropecuary Council (CNA), reaffirmed its commitment to eradicate the cattle worm pest (gusano barrenador del ganado) that threatens livestock and food safety. At the 4th National Congress on Agro-Food Sanitation and Safety, officials highlighted intensified sanitary measures, investment in technology, and financial support for small‑ and medium‑scale producers. President Claudia Sheinbaum directed priority attention to farmers, ranchers, fishers and aquaculturists, while the National Fund for Agricultural Investment (FIRA) pledged further financing to expand sustainable practices and diversify export markets.

The coordinated effort aims to protect the health of more than 130 million Mexicans by preventing livestock losses and guaranteeing safe, nutritious food supplies nationwide.
