La Rioja launches school vaccination campaign for 7,000 students
The government of La Rioja, Argentina, has relaunched the interministerial school vaccination strategy ‘Activá tu Escudo’. This joint initiative between the Ministries of Health and Education aims to strengthen National Vaccination Calendar coverage by bringing immunizations directly to schools.
In its first stage, the program will reach 6,901 students born in 2015 and 2021 across 253 initial and primary education establishments in seven departments: Capital, Chamical, General Juan Facundo Quiroga, General San Martín, Independencia, Sanagasta, and Vinchina. The program follows a pilot phase that successfully increased vaccination coverage by approximately 10%.
In Tamaulipas, Mexico, health authorities report that the HPV vaccination campaign has reached 88% coverage. Officials are preparing for the 2026-2027 school cycle, which is expected to target approximately 62,000 children, primarily fifth-grade students, to ensure immunization before the onset of sexual activity.
