Mexico advances environmental education and agricultural initiatives

Various regional initiatives in Mexico are focusing on environmental education and agricultural development. In La Paz, SEPUIMM has invited primary schools to participate in the 4th ‘Agentes del Cambio’ Environmental Education Rally on October 28 at the ‘El Piojillo’ Municipal Sports Center. The event allows schools to register teams of 10 students in fifth or sixth grade to learn about nature through educational activities.

In Puebla, educational institutions are implementing environmental programs such as ‘Manos a la Tierra’, which focuses on creating school gardens. These gardens aim to teach students about biodiversity and food production, with the potential to generate up to 60,000 pesos annually for school improvements. Additionally, the ‘Santuario de Polinizadores’ project will establish gardens to support pollinator species.

Furthermore, the 18th ‘Expo Hortícola Puebla’ is scheduled for October 21–23 at the Agroparque in Los Reyes de Juárez. The event, which expects 12,000 visitors, showcases agricultural technology and innovation. The region is a significant producer of vegetables, exporting to the United States, Canada, and Central America.
