Mexico advances major road projects to improve regional connectivity

The reconstruction of the Vía Morelos corridor in the State of Mexico is more than 90% finished. The 40‑km project, costing 208 million pesos, will enhance travel for over 222,000 vehicles daily along a key route linking Ecatepec, Tecámac, northern Mexico City and the Felipe Ángeles Airport. Authorities say the work creates about 200 direct and up to 500 indirect jobs and will shorten travel times while improving safety.

The Amado Nervo bridge, spanning over two kilometres across the Ameca River, is about 80% complete and slated to open in July. With an investment of 930 million pesos, the bridge will feature three lanes in each direction, cut travel times between Nayarit and Jalisco by up to 25 minutes and serve roughly 500,000 residents and tourists. The construction has generated around 2,700 jobs and is part of the 2025‑2030 National Highway Infrastructure Program, aimed at boosting regional economic integration.
