Mexico advances taxi service modernization and concessions
Mexico is implementing various initiatives to modernize its individual public transportation sector. In Mexico City, the Secretariat of Mobility held the Expo Taxi 2026, showcasing 40 vehicles from 14 brands. The event aimed to present technological and sustainable alternatives to taxi operators and concessionaires to facilitate the replacement of vehicles that have reached the end of their 10-year service life. Supported by Breathe Cities and the Electromobility Association, the initiative focuses on decarbonization and improving urban air quality.
In the state of Querétaro, the Mobility Agency (AMEQ) has concluded the folio assignment for the second call for QroTaxi 2026 concessions. The process remains open until October 30, 2026, for interested parties to complete documentation. Concessions will be distributed based on mobility demand, with 412 allocated to the Metropolitan Zone, 120 to Pedro Escobedo, and 64 to San Juan del Río. Beneficiaries will receive 2026 Nissan V-Drive units with financing options, zero down payment, and insurance preferences to expand service coverage.
