Mexico Agriculture Ministry and TecNM Sign Alliance to Boost Food Sovereignty

Mexico's Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRICULTURA) and the National Technological Institute of Mexico (TecNM) signed a strategic collaboration agreement at the Museum of the Telegraph in Mexico City. The pact calls for joint research projects, technology transfer, technical training and institutional linkage aimed at strengthening the country's fisheries, livestock and agricultural production systems.

The agreement, presented by Agriculture Secretary Columba Jazmín López Gutiérrez and TecNM General Director Ramón Jiménez López, seeks to increase field productivity, promote sustainable use of natural resources and improve food security. It targets staple commodities such as corn, rice, beans, milk, honey, coffee, cocoa and tomato, emphasizing innovation and the development of domestic technology to support rural social justice and regional development.
