Mexico Allows Independent Technicians to Certify Elevators
The Mexican Ministry of Industries and Commerce will issue a temporary regulation permitting owners of condominiums and other buildings to hire external qualified technicians to inspect and certify elevators. The inspection report must be submitted to the municipal authority, and the technician assumes responsibility for the certification, whether or not they are registered with SENCAMER.
The measure aims to accelerate the re‑activation of elevator services in the seven states still affected by the June 24 earthquakes, reducing reliance on the standard institutional registration process and easing the certification burden on residents.
