Mexico and Chile advance gender‑based violence education and justice reforms

In Colima, Mexico, the municipal mayor and the Institute of Women for the Municipality organized a "Día Naranja" on 25 June at ICEP Bachillerato Galván. The program included a lecture on gender‑based violence aimed at raising awareness among students and promoting respect, equality and prevention measures.

In Chile, Erika Villegas, president of the Court of Appeals of Copiapó and head of the gender‑and‑non‑discrimination committee, delivered a training session on digital gender violence for staff of the Integrated Judicial Notification Centers in several cities. She explained forms such as non‑consensual sharing of intimate images, sextortion, doxing and cyber‑harassment, and reviewed legal protections under law 21.675.

In Jalisco, Mexico, the launch of the book *El Nuevo Paradigma de la Victimología* brought together academics and human‑rights specialists who called for a transformation of the justice system to eliminate revictimization. The speakers highlighted an intersectional, gender‑focused approach and cited the Inter‑American Court’s García Andrade judgment as a landmark case on femicide and state responsibility.
