Mexico and Chile expand health facilities with new beds and clinic upgrades

The Mexican Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) delivered 242 electric hospital beds to second‑ and third‑level medical units across the country in July, bringing the total installed to 1,341 of the 2,275 beds planned – a 59 % completion rate. Deliveries included 30 beds to the Roberto Nettel Flores Clinic Hospital in Chiapas, 27 to Gómez Palacio in Durango, 20 to the Ensenada Clinic Hospital in Baja California, and additional allocations to facilities in Sinaloa, Colima, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Michoacán, Oaxaca, the State of Mexico and Mexico City.

In Punta Arenas, Chile, the municipal corporation CORMUPA invested 38 million Chilean pesos to upgrade the Cesfam Dr. Mateo Bencur health centre. The project added two new medical boxes, replaced ten windows with thermopanel units, refreshed paintwork, modernised electrical installations and upgraded equipment. Mayor Claudio Radonich said, "This investment allowed us to enable two new boxes and improve the facilities for the roughly 36 000 residents of the commune," while health area chief Víctor Fuentes noted the upgrades will help meet accreditation standards and improve service flow.
