Mexico and Dominican Republic push forward environmental legislation and safety programs

Mexico's Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) announced the need to update key environmental laws, including the General Law of Ecological Balance and the new General Law on Circular Economy, as part of President Claudia Sheinbaum's agenda. Officials highlighted the priority of modernising the ecological balance law, revising the climate change law and creating measures such as biological corridors.

In the Dominican Republic, the National Institute of Technical Professional Training (INFOTEP) held a workshop in San Francisco de Macorís to strengthen occupational safety, risk prevention and environmental protection among staff of its Cibao Nordeste regional office. The event, led by director of operational risks Taína Gautreau, emphasized compliance with national regulations and the formation of emergency response brigades.

Both initiatives reflect a regional focus on improving environmental governance and workplace safety.
