Mexico and France discuss Afro-descendant history at FILAH

During the 37th International Anthropology and History Book Fair (FILAH), researchers from Mexico and France participated in the XXII Africanities Colloquium. Held at the National Museum of Anthropology, the event focused on the theme “Afro-descendants in Veracruz and France: experiences of slavery and freedom.”

Coordinated by INAH researcher María Elisa Velázquez Gutiérrez, the colloquium included conferences and panels aimed at promoting the rights and memory of Afro-descendant populations. Discussions centered on the historical processes of the transatlantic slave trade and the importance of recognizing the contributions and history of these communities.
