Mexico’s Secretariat of Culture, the French Embassy and the Institute of French America Latin (IFAL) announced La Gran Fiesta Franco‑Mexicana, a series of cultural events marking 200 years of diplomatic relations between Mexico and France. The program runs from 1 September to 30 November 2026 in 21 Mexican cities and includes exhibitions, concerts, film cycles, festivals, conferences, contests, symposia and academic meetings.
Key highlights feature the exhibition “France‑Mexico, 200 Years of Relationship and Friendship” at the Biblioteca Vasconcelos, a contemporary French photography showcase at the Centro de la Imagen, the gastronomic festival ¡Qué gusto! at Los Pinos, and the film cycle “Ellas dirigen” at the Cineteca Nacional. The National Anthropology Museum will display the Codex Azcatitlán alongside the Codex Boturini presented at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France as part of a heritage exchange. French cultural institutions such as the Centre Pompidou, the Comédie‑Française and the Chaillot‑Théâtre also participate, while Mexican INBAL ensembles schedule around 30 performances throughout the run. Officials including Claudia Curiel de Icaza, Valeria Palomino, Alejandra de la Paz, Delphine Borione and Jean‑François Guéganno highlighted the bilateral effort to deepen artistic and historical dialogue.
