Mexico and Peru implement digital platforms for police and federal crime reporting
Mexico's Attorney General's Office (FGR) is launching 'FISC@NET', an electronic platform designed to receive, channel, and track reports of potential federal crimes. The system will operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, allowing specialized prosecutor offices to analyze reports and determine if criminal investigations are necessary. The initiative aims to expand citizen service channels and streamline the reporting process.
In Peru, the National Police (PNP) has enabled a 'Digital Police Report' service. This virtual tool allows citizens to report the loss or theft of documents—such as national IDs, passports, driver's licenses, and university cards—without visiting a police station. The service provides a digitally signed PDF certificate that is legally equivalent to physical reports issued at stations and can be verified via QR code.
