Mexico and Peru issue holiday travel safety warnings

The National Council of the Ballistic Industry (CNB) in Mexico warned that summer vacation traffic has risen up to 30% on major highways and urged drivers and companies to plan trips, avoid night travel, and conduct vehicle inspections. The council emphasized that protective measures, such as armored vehicles, must be complemented by proper planning and safety protocols.

In Peru, the consumer protection agency Indecopi advised travelers for the upcoming Fiestas Patrias holiday to use only formally authorized ground transport operators. The agency highlighted the risks of informal providers, recommended checking fares, schedules, itineraries, and securing travel tickets, and reminded passengers of rights regarding ticket transfers, baggage receipts, and accommodations for vulnerable groups.
