Mexico and Puebla boost community tourism with 106 distinctions ahead of 2027 fair

The federal and state governments of Mexico and Puebla awarded 106 community‑tourism distinctions and 24 certificates of community‑tourism works to providers in 19 municipalities of the state. The program, backed by an investment of more than 10 million pesos, aims to strengthen local economies, preserve cultural and natural heritage, and position Puebla as a national reference for community tourism.

Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora highlighted that Mexico now ranks sixth among the world’s most visited destinations, while Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier noted that the initiative will be showcased at the Tianguis Turístico 2027, which will host representatives from 40 countries and over 5,000 buyers. Fifty‑eight of the distinguished experiences will appear in the official Guide of Community‑Tourism Experiences, supported by the national tourism fund Fonatur and UNESCO. Women will manage the community treasuries, reflecting the Sheinbaum administration’s focus on female leadership in public life.
