Mexico announces security plan for Morelos and new school in Tlalpan
President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has announced several domestic initiatives in Mexico focused on security and education. In Morelos, the President agreed to launch a comprehensive security plan to strengthen state and municipal corporations through increased federal deployment. This follows a meeting with Governor Margarita González Saravia to address insufficient local police numbers. Authorities are evaluating the expansion of the 'Plan Cuautla' to other municipalities and the deployment of federal intelligence teams to target organized crime.
In the education sector, Secretary of Public Education Mario Delgado Carrillo announced the construction of a new Bachillerato Nacional campus in the Tlalpan borough of Mexico City. The facility, representing an investment of nearly 100 million pesos, will focus on culture and the arts, with a capacity for 1,200 students. This project is part of a broader national strategy to create 400,000 new high school spaces.
Separately, workers at the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) have raised concerns regarding labor conditions and leadership. Employees are demanding the removal of their union leader, citing dissatisfaction with working conditions and the impact of inflation on wages.
