Mexico approves 2027 budget plan for civil protection

Mexico's Commission for Civil Protection and Disaster Prevention has approved its opinion on the 2027 Federal Expenditure Budget Project (PPEF). The commission, chaired by Deputy Luis Humberto Fernández Fuentes, determined that the proposed resources for disaster management are sufficient.

The 2027 budget includes significant increases in operating expenses: over 74.6 percent for the National Civil Protection Coordination and more than 118.3 percent for the National Center for Disaster Prevention.

Additionally, the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit announced the renewal of the 2026-2027 Catastrophe Insurance. This insurance doubles the insured sum to 10.4 billion pesos, featuring a 400 million peso Loss Administration Fund and a 10 billion peso parametric insurance designed to ensure rapid financial responses to high-severity catastrophes.
