Mexico arrests suspect in attempted femicide in Oaxaca's Sierra Sur

The Fiscalía General del Estado of Oaxaca captured a man identified as E. C. H. on suspicion of attempted femicide. The attack occurred on 31 May 2026 at a residence in the municipal agency of Llano Grande, San Pablo Ozolotepec, within the Sierra Sur region of the Miahuatlán de Porfirio Díaz district.

The victim, a woman, was beaten, verbally abused, and left unconscious with her head injured. After regaining consciousness she discovered she had been tied and wrapped in a tarp, managed to free herself and summon authorities. Following the complaint, a multidisciplinary gender‑perspective team gathered evidence, secured an arrest warrant and executed it. The suspect is now in custody pending judicial proceedings.
