Mexican authorities captured Iván Martín “N” on 1 August 2025 in Zapopan, Jalisco, after a warrant issued by the State Prosecutor’s Office. The operation was carried out by the Vice‑Prosecutor’s specialized unit for gender‑based violence together with the Mexican Army and the National Guard. A simultaneous search of a house in the San Juan de Ocotán colonia recovered two firearms – a .40‑calibre pistol and a 9 mm pistol – as well as mobile phones and identification documents.

Investigators say the attack on influencer Valeria Márquez on 13 May 2025 used a motorcycle and a white car to reach her beauty salon and to facilitate the perpetrators’ escape. The case is linked to Ramón Ángel Álvarez Ayala, alias “R1”, a suspected CJNG faction leader, whose son allegedly had a romantic relationship with Márquez and is accused of requesting the killing. Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch confirmed the son remains at large and is being sought as the intellectual author of the feminicide.
