Mexico arrests suspected gang leader 'El Nico' in Ciudad Juárez

State public security agents in Chihuahua detained 26‑year‑old Nicolás P. V, known as “El Nico” or “El Comandante Nico”, on the night of 19 June in Ciudad Juárez. The operation took place at the intersection of Blvd. Gómez Morín and Faraday Street in the Partido Senecú neighborhood. He was accompanied by two individuals from El Paso, Texas, and the trio were traveling in a black Audi bearing Texas plates. During the raid, authorities seized six long‑guns – five .223‑caliber rifles and one 7.62×39 mm rifle – along with loaded magazines and military‑grade ammunition. The detainees were handed over for investigation on charges of violating the Federal Firearms and Explosives Law. The capture follows a February operation that targeted “El Nico” as a priority suspect and the main generator of violence for a criminal group operating in the El Valle de Juárez area.
