Mexico arrests two men for violent convenience‑store robberies

In Tijuana, police from the Municipal Security and Protection Secretariat detained a 27‑year‑old suspect after a robbery at an Oxxo convenience store. The man threatened an employee with a 12‑centimetre knife, stole about 1,000 pesos and two packets of cigarettes, and fled. Officers located him a few minutes later, recovered the stolen cash, the knife and the cigarettes, and handed him over to the state prosecutor. He was identified as Marco Tulio “N”.

In Mexico City’s Magdalena Contreras borough, a 23‑year‑old was arrested after a woman reported being robbed and threatened with a knife near the streets 19 de Agosto and Coatzintla. The victim described a knife of roughly 20 centimetres, a pink purse and cash taken from her. Police recovered the weapon and the stolen items, and linked the suspect to four prior violent robberies of convenience stores in the area. He was presented to the public prosecutor for further investigation.
