Mexico Attorney General Ernestina Godoy pledges full state force to find missing persons

Attorney General Ernestina Godoy Ramos said the government will mobilize all state resources to address the problem of disappearances in Mexico. Speaking at a dialogue table with families and search collectives in Villahermosa, Tabasco, she outlined a new strategic plan that integrates forensic, investigative and intelligence tools and emphasizes respect for victims' dignity.

The meeting, attended by Interior Secretary Rosa Icela Rodríguez, Tabasco Governor Javier May Rodríguez and representatives from the National Search Commission, the UN Population Fund and the Red Cross, highlighted the need for permanent coordination between federal and state authorities. Godoy promised “to strengthen collaboration among prosecutors, forensic services and search commissions” and to monitor progress with clear metrics.

The initiative aims to improve identification processes, accelerate investigations and give families a permanent space for dialogue, signalling a priority for President Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration.
