Julián Álvarez Guardia homicide investigation in Chaco
Victoria Cantero, 25, has been detained in Resistencia, Chaco, and charged with aggravated homicide for the death of her boyfriend Julián (also reported as Matías) Álvarez Guardia. She voluntarily provided the password to the victim’s mobile phone, allowing forensic experts to examine its contents.
A special fiscal team, including prosecutors Ana González de Pacce and Martín Bogado, was assembled to lead the case. Bogado announced that technical and scientific evidence – such as digital recordings, CCTV footage and forensic analysis of the phone – is being used to reconstruct the sequence of events. The family’s lawyer, Juan Arregín, says several points remain unresolved, including the possible involvement of third parties and the whereabouts of a missing evidence box.
Investigators have also recreated the hours before the killing, describing a dispute that began at a nightclub and continued at the victim’s home, where a knife attack is alleged to have occurred. The phone was recovered from the brother‑in‑law’s car and handed to the prosecutor for analysis.
