Mexican authorities detain suspects in forced disappearance, extortion, fraud and homicide cases

In Veracruz, the State Attorney General's Office executed eleven arrest warrants for individuals accused of forced disappearances linked to the 2015 “Blindaje Coatzacoalcos” operation. The same office also detained five former members of the dissolved Civil Force and, separately, eight state police officers in Coatzacoalcos on suspicion of participation in forced‑disappearance crimes.

Separately, authorities warned of two ongoing fraud schemes. A fake website impersonating the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs offered bogus passport services, extracting thousands of pesos from victims. In Tamaulipas, the State Treasury, together with cyber‑police, is pursuing operators of counterfeit social‑media pages that promise vehicle and tax services but defraud citizens.

Law‑enforcement actions also targeted violent crime. Using the Sinergia coordination strategy, investigators captured a man in Querétaro wanted in Tlaxcala for an alleged 2016 femicide. In Chihuahua, a suspect was linked to an aggravated robbery of an OXXO convenience store. Audio recordings disclosed an extortion call targeting a traveler near the Juárez airport, while in Mexico City prosecutors secured extortion‑aggravated charges against a couple accused of demanding money from a merchant.
