Mexico authorities secure 2,876 properties in Estado de México

Under the framework of ‘Operación Restitución’, security forces in the State of Mexico have secured 2,876 properties linked to dispossession and property crimes. To date, 1,859 of these properties have been returned to their legitimate owners.

Between October 17 and October 23, 2026, a joint operation involving the State of Mexico Attorney General's Office (FGJEM), the Secretariat of National Defense (DEFENSA), the Secretariat of the Navy (MARINA), the National Guard, state security forces, and municipal police conducted 11 searches and 39 inspections. These actions took place across various municipalities, including Toluca, Nezahualcóyotl, and Texcoco, resulting in the seizure of 50 properties consisting of 31 residences, 18 plots of land, and one commercial premises.

The initiative is part of the ‘Strategy for the Restitution of Property’ driven by the State of Mexico Peace Table to strengthen property rights and legal certainty in the region.
