Mexico authorities seize Bengal tigers in separate operations

Mexican authorities have conducted separate operations to seize protected wildlife in different regions of the country. In Mexico City, officials intercepted a private vehicle near the Central de Abastos containing a five-month-old white Bengal tiger cub. The Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) intervened after the owner failed to provide documentation or evidence of legal possession. The cub, which appeared to be in good health but lacked identification markings, was transferred to the Invictus Foundation's rescue center for quarantine and specialized care.

In Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, a joint operation involving Profepa, the Army, and the National Guard led to the seizure of a male Bengal tiger weighing approximately 250 kilograms and a swamp crocodile at a car wash. Both animals are protected under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). The tiger was reported to be in good health, while the crocodile presented a snout injury. Both specimens were moved to specialized wildlife management facilities.
