Mexico backs President Sheinbaum's stance on sovereignty, pledges cooperative ties

Deputy Luis Emilio Rosas Montiel called for national unity behind President Claudia Sheinbaum, stressing that Mexico’s sovereignty must be defended through respect for international law and the country’s own legal framework. He warned that alleged U.S. agency operations on Mexican soil could constitute a breach of that sovereignty.

The Morena parliamentary group echoed this position, stating that Mexico will maintain international cooperation only when it complies with Mexican laws, institutions and duly authorized procedures. The group rejected unilateral actions, demanded transparent information exchanges, and cited the recent forced entry into Mexico’s embassy in Quito as an example of violations of diplomatic immunity and the right of asylum.

Both statements underline Mexico’s intent to engage globally while insisting on equal and dignified relations that do not subordinate its national interests.
