Mexico mobile registration: deadline for lines ending in 1 is August 31
Mexico's Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (CRT) is implementing a mandatory registration process to link mobile phone lines with users' personal identification (CURP) to combat crime and reduce anonymity. The first phase, targeting lines ending in '0', concluded its deadline on August 15. As of August 19, the CRT reported that 9,675,589 lines (78.9% of the block) have been successfully linked, while approximately 2.6 million lines remain suspended.
Authorities noted that 2,353,453 previously suspended lines have already been reactivated following successful registration. The CRT also plans to purge approximately 2.5 million unused records, such as unactivated promotional chips or single-use lines for visitors.
The registration schedule continues in bi-weekly stages based on the final digit of the phone number. The next deadline is August 31 for lines ending in '1'. Subsequent deadlines include September 15 for digit '2', September 30 for digit '3', and continuing through December 31 for digit '9'. The Ministry of the Interior (Segob) has indicated that further updates regarding potential deadline extensions may be announced soon.
