Mexico launches $2,500 Rita Cetina school aid payments

The Mexican government began disbursing the Rita Cetina school‑aid program on 3 August 2026. The universal grant provides 2 500 pesos per primary‑school student to help families purchase uniforms, supplies and other materials for the 2026‑2027 school year. Payments are made through the Banco del Bienestar card and follow an alphabetic schedule based on the beneficiary’s first‑surname letter, running from 3 August (letters A‑B) to 14 August (letters T‑Z). Approximately 6.7 million primary‑school pupils will receive the support, representing an investment of about 16.7 billion pesos for this cohort. The program is part of the broader Bienestar scholarship system, which now covers roughly 19 million students across basic, secondary and higher education with a total investment exceeding 93 billion pesos. For families that missed the card‑distribution, authorities are conducting house‑to‑house deliveries and maintaining call‑center outreach to ensure full coverage before the end of the payment window.
