Mexico's Secretariat of Welfare begins card distribution for pensions

The Mexican Secretariat of Welfare has launched a national operation to distribute Bienestar cards to beneficiaries who registered in June. From August 24 to August 30, 2026, the distribution targets recipients of the 'Pensión Mujeres Bienestar' (for women aged 60-64) and the 'Pensión para el Bienestar de las Personas Adultas Mayores' (for those aged 65 and older).

To facilitate the process, the government is sending SMS notifications to beneficiaries specifying the date, time, and location for card collection. Recipients must present an original and a copy of their official identification and their registration slip. More than 3 million women and 13.8 million seniors are currently part of these programs.

Additionally, the government is processing pending payments for various educational scholarships, including the Rita Cetina, Benito Juárez, and Jóvenes Escribiendo el Futuro programs, between August 24 and August 28. In the State of Mexico, the 'Plan Oriente' continues to provide disability pensions to over 48,000 people across ten municipalities.

Looking ahead, the tentative payment schedule for the September-October 2026 period is expected to begin on September 1, with disbursements being made gradually based on the first letter of the beneficiaries' paternal surnames through Banco del Bienestar.
