Mexico Budget Commission analyzes 2027 expenditure project
Mexico’s Commission on Budget and Public Account met with specialists from the ‘Ifigenia Martínez Hernández’ Center for Public Finance Studies (CEFP) to analyze the 2027 Federal Expenditure Budget Project (PPEF).
The analysis covers international and macroeconomic environments, tax policy, public spending, and resource allocation for federal entities. During the session, Erick Xocoyoyzin Gómez, head of the CEFP Directorate, emphasized the importance of understanding the geopolitical context, specifically noting that the USMCA (T-MEC) presents potential risks to Mexico’s public finances regarding sovereign debt, tax collection, and credit ratings.
Additionally, Ailyana Barragán Álvarez, Director of Macroeconomic and Sectoral Studies, noted that a deficit of 0.6 percent is projected for 2027.
