Cancún Governor Mara Lezama Oversees 30% Completion of Kukulcán Road Distributor
Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa inspected the Kukulcán road distributor in Cancún, reporting that construction is about 30 % complete. The federal project, funded with 484 million pesos and managed by the Secretaría de Infraestructura, Comunicaciones y Transportes (SICT), will link the Nichupté Bridge, the International Airport and the Hotel Zone.
The elevated roadway will consist of two separate structures: one carrying two lanes in one direction and the other a single lane in the opposite direction, plus side streets, pedestrian crossings and public‑transport stops. Current work focuses on erecting columns after the foundation and footings, while underground utilities for water and drainage are also being installed.
Lezama thanked President Claudia Sheinbaum for supporting the project, noting that it will reduce travel times, lower accident risk, increase traffic capacity and improve emergency response in the region’s main tourist corridor.
