Mexico builds new futsal fields in Manzanillo and Ciudad Juárez under Mundial Social

The municipality of Manzanillo is constructing three new futsal (football 5) fields in the neighborhoods of La Flechita, Nuevo Salagua and Santa Carolina II. Each venue will feature synthetic turf, lighting and drainage systems, allowing use in varied conditions and extended hours. The projects are part of the federal Mundial Social program, which seeks to promote sport and community interaction across the country and follows the recent renovation of more than 20 local fields.

In Ciudad Juárez, mayor Héctor Ortiz Orpinel formally handed over four futsal fields located in Sierra Vista, Fidel Velázquez, Horizontes del Sur and Oasis Revolución. The installations, costing about 1.8 million pesos each, include synthetic turf, perimeter mesh and new luminarias, meeting technical standards set by Sedatu and Conade. The deliveries underscore cooperation between the municipal government, the federal authorities and participatory budgeting initiatives to expand safe sports infrastructure for local youth.
