Mexico celebrates National Mexican Cinema Day with regional screenings

Mexico is celebrating National Mexican Cinema Day with various programming across the country. In Hermosillo, the Cineteca Sonora will host free screenings on August 15 and 16, featuring works ranging from the Golden Age of Mexican cinema to contemporary productions. Notable figures and films mentioned in the context of this cinematic history include Pedro Infante, María Félix, and Alejandro González Iñárritu.

In Nayarit, the celebration will run from August 15 to August 29 across eight different venues. Coordinated by the State Council for Culture and the Arts of Nayarit and the Radio and Television System, the local program includes screenings in municipalities, cultural spaces, and penitentiaries. The initiative aims to showcase national films and works by Nayarit filmmakers, with accessibility features such as Mexican Sign Language and audio description provided for certain functions.
