Mexico certifies nearly 6,000 food safety production units

Mexico's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRICULTURA), through Senasica, has certified 5,916 production and primary packaging units for food safety compliance in 2026. These certifications ensure the implementation of good practices across the agricultural, livestock, and aquaculture sectors to protect public health and access more profitable markets.

The agricultural sector accounts for 68 percent (4,025 units) of the total, covering crops such as avocado, tomato, berries, and various vegetables. The livestock sector represents 24 percent (1,407 units), including bovine, ovine, and porcine livestock, as well as poultry, eggs, honey, and milk. The remaining 8 percent (484 units) belong to the aquaculture and fishing sector, which includes species like tilapia, shrimp, and rainbow trout.
