Mexico City 1.5‑tonne sandwich wins Guinness World Record

On July 29, chefs at the 21st International Tortas Fair prepared a sandwich more than 100 metres long and weighing 1.5 tonnes in the Venustiano Carranza borough of Mexico City. The massive confection, featuring over 50 ingredients such as ham, milanesa, chistorra, mole and even wild boar, was assembled by dozens of bakers on long tables and later weighed under hygiene protocols.

Guinness World Records judges confirmed the creation as the largest sliced sandwich in the world. Judge Alfredo Arista welcomed the organizers into the Guinness “family,” declaring them “officially amazing.” The record builds on previous editions of the fair, which produced a 76‑metre, 950‑kg sandwich in 2024 and a 90‑metre version in 2025, marking the first time the event earned official certification.
