Mexico City Airport Defends Security Contracts as Legal and Transparent

The Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México (AICM) issued a statement to refute media reports linking its security providers to federal investigations, asserting that all procurement steps complied with the applicable legal framework. AICM explained that the security services contract was awarded through National Public Tender No. LA‑09‑KDN‑009KDN001‑N‑65‑2025, which attracted eight bidders. The winning proposal received the highest technical evaluation and the lowest economic offer, generating savings of more than 188 million pesos compared with the next‑most expensive bid.

The selected company, SERPROSEP S.A. de C.V., altered its shareholder structure in September 2024 before receiving the contract in June 2025. The airport noted that current shareholders have no ties to the individuals mentioned in recent reports and reiterated its readiness to cooperate with authorities while emphasizing security as a permanent priority.
