Mexico City and Hidalgo launch women's empowerment training programs

In the Mexico City Congress, more than 30 women unionists attended a political leadership course on May 27. The event was opened by deputy Juan Estuardo Rubio Gualito, president of the Labor Commission, and taught by activist Wendy Castalia. Participants received training on leadership, communication and identifying workplace violence, while union officials highlighted that 1,600 women are members of the city’s government workers’ union.

In the state of Hidalgo, the LIBRE Centers in Metepec, Santiago Tulantepec, Zempoala and Zacualtipán held workshops for women aimed at self‑employment and productive activities. Organized by the Instituto Hidalguense de las Mujeres and led by Katya Hernández Pérez, the sessions covered skills such as bubble‑painting, soft‑gel nail application, eyebrow cutting, cardboard work, cosmetology and skin‑care. The goal is to equip participants with practical abilities to start personal projects and expand income opportunities in their communities.
