Mexico City and Toluca enforce strict alcohol bans during public events

In Mexico City, authorities implemented a temporary "Ley Seca" during the Fan Fest held at the Zócalo and along Paseo de la Reforma. Police seized 79 bottles of alcohol, 1,377 cans of beer, and removed 260 unauthorized stalls, while also confronting attempts to smuggle drinks past security checks.

In Toluca, the municipal "Conduce sin alcohol" program conducted 97 checkpoints, performing 2,647 breath‑alcohol tests. Officials detained 1,447 drivers who tested positive (54.6% of those tested), impounded 1,244 private cars, 29 motorcycles and five public‑transport vehicles, and referred the offenders to a civil judge, preventing a comparable number of potential traffic accidents.
