Mexico City authorities recover remains at Panteón de Dolores
The third phase of the Controlled Recoveries Plan at the Panteón Civil de Dolores in the Miguel Hidalgo borough has concluded. During this final stage, which took place between October 13 and 23, 2026, authorities recovered 20 individuals, including 20 adults and four subadults, along with 417 bone fragments and various bags containing body segments.
Across all three phases of the operation, a total of 76 individuals have been located. To date, 12 people have been fully identified, while 25 identity hypotheses remain under corroboration. The recovered remains and biological elements have been transferred to the Institute of Forensic Services and Sciences (Incifo/ISPCF) for specialized genetic and osteological analysis.
The recovery process utilized a specialized pulley and scaffolding system designed to prevent soil compaction and bone fragmentation. Throughout the operation, family members of the disappeared, activist collectives, and independent experts were permitted to observe the work and access the triage area to receive information regarding the findings.
