Mexico City authorities suspend 83 clandestine parties in 2026

Mexico City authorities have suspended 83 clandestine parties so far in 2026, contributing to a total of 188 illegal gatherings shut down during the current administration. These events, often occurring in areas such as Coyoacán and Miguel Hidalgo, typically involve unauthorized alcohol sales and pose risks to minors.

Government Secretary César Cravioto Romero stated that interventions are driven by both neighborhood complaints and monitoring through the “La Noche es de Todos” program, which tracks social media to detect events before they begin. Officials noted that these gatherings often exceed capacity limits or lack necessary permits.

Under the Mexico City Civic Culture Law, organizers of parties that cause excessive noise or public disturbance face sanctions including economic fines, up to 36 hours of administrative arrest, or community service.
