Mexico City baseball team for deaf athletes to compete in Japan

Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada Molina has announced government support for a baseball team composed of deaf athletes traveling to Japan for an international competition. During a public audience, Brugada recognized the delegation and the work of the civil association ‘Olmecas Hoy’, which has assisted in the team's preparation.

In addition to supporting the athletes, the Mayor highlighted the importance of inclusive sports infrastructure and invited team members to participate in local ‘Utopía’ community centers to promote sports among deaf youth. The event also included health advisories from the local Secretary of Public Health, Nadine Gasman Zylbermann, regarding influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations for vulnerable populations during the winter season.
