Mexico City Council Considers Buildings Up to 19 Stories in Benito Juárez and Miguel Hidalgo
The Mexico City Congress received four citizen‑initiated proposals to modify land‑use regulations for properties in the boroughs of Benito Juárez and Miguel Hidalgo. One initiative seeks to allow a hotel and related services on a site at Filadelfia 42, permitting construction of up to 12 stories. Another targets a property on Avenida Constituyentes 868, requesting permission for a building of up to 19 stories while preserving 35 % open space. A third proposal aims to raise the height limit from 5 to 16 stories for a mixed‑use development at Boulevard Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra 621. The fourth seeks to increase the maximum height from 3 to 4 stories for a residential site on Poniente 143. The proposals have been referred to the Commission on Urban Development and Infrastructure for feasibility studies and a formal opinion, sparking debate over densification, urban planning, and community impact in the capital.
