Mexico City cracks down on unlicensed pool terraces

Mexico City officials reported that about 60 garden venues with swimming pools are operating without the required permits, representing roughly 30% of the licensed establishments. Civil Protection Director Sergio Rodríguez said routine inspections on weekends identify six to eight illegal terraces, which are then closed and owners are notified to either regularize their status or cease operations.

Rodríguez urged the public to verify that any terrace or garden hired for events holds the proper authorizations from the Directorate General of Urban Development, Civil Protection and the Directorate of Government. He noted that while owners may face fines or closures, event organizers also suffer when authorities intervene and halt the gatherings.
