Mexico City culinary scene highlights diverse dining and dessert options
Mexico City continues to expand its culinary landscape through diverse dining experiences, ranging from specialized dessert shops to large-scale gastronomic programs.
In the dessert sector, various ice cream and gelato establishments are gaining popularity across different neighborhoods. Options include Joe Gelato in Juárez, which offers seasonal flavors like corn and vanilla; Myka in Polanco, which serves Greek-inspired yogurt ice cream with toppings like olive oil and baklava; and Helados Cometa in Roma Norte. Additionally, Nieve de Olla provides dairy-free alternatives using coconut cream and cashew milk.
On a broader scale, the #AmexForFoodies program is returning to the city from August 14 to 30, 2026. The initiative connects American Express cardholders with over 50 restaurants, featuring both established and emerging culinary proposals. The program offers exclusive three-course menus at various locations, including Fónico in Roma, Trilloy in Condesa, and Carmela in Lomas-Virreyes, which focuses on contemporary Mexican cuisine.
