Mexico City expands free community programs across multiple neighborhood centers

The municipal government of Mexico City is strengthening its network of Community Development Centers (CEDECO) by offering a range of free courses, sports activities, and health services. Programs include Zumba, MMA, spinning, psychology counseling, and upcoming academic regularization courses for children and youth in neighborhoods such as Colonia México, Laureles, Santa Fe, and Arroyo Delgado.

In Xochimilco, a new "Casa de las 3Rs" was opened, providing laundry, a community kitchen, hydrotherapy, free medical clinics, psychological support, legal advice for women, and specialized care for seniors, people with disabilities, and neuro‑divergent individuals. Governor‑candidate Clara Brugada highlighted the center as part of the city's Public Care System, aiming to reduce the caregiving burden traditionally shouldered by women and to be replicated in other DIF facilities.

Both initiatives are designed to increase access to education, health, and social support services for residents at no cost.
