Mexico City hosts major exhibitions at Museo Jumex and Museo Tamayo
Mexico City is hosting significant contemporary art exhibitions at two major institutions. The Museo Jumex has inaugurated ‘Richard Prince: Cuéntamelo todo’, marking the first major exhibition by the American artist in Latin America. The showcase features over 140 works, including paintings, photographs, and sculptures, spanning nearly five decades of his career. The collection highlights his use of imagery from advertising and popular culture, featuring series such as ‘Cowboys’ and ‘Jokes’.
Meanwhile, the Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo is presenting an exhibition dedicated to three prominent Oaxacan artists: Tamayo, Toledo, and Nieto. The exhibition includes nearly 100 pieces that explore the artists' formative years in Europe and their unique aesthetic contributions to Mexican art. The display highlights how these artists developed a personal and exploratory style that ran parallel to the institutional muralism movement led by figures like Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros.
